Through Humanities at Mabel Park State High School, students explore a range of issues to develop critical and creative thinking. They develop the ability to independently research, gather and interpret data, present arguments and reason as well as communicate in effective and meaningful ways. Our students also develop an appreciation of different perspectives, values and intercultural understandings to become actively global citizens.
Junior Secondary
All students participate in the Australian Curriculum at their year level from Year 7 to Year 9. Across junior secondary, students have the opportunity to engage in the following subjects:
- History
- Geography
- Economics and Business
- Civics and Citizenship
Senior Secondary
In Year 10, all students study History for a semester. For the other semester, students have the ability to select which strand of Humanities they would like to study from the following list:
- Ancient History
- Economics and Business
- Geography
- Legal Studies

In Year 11 and Year 12, students can select from a wide range of subjects to prepare them to be ready for the future.
