To ensure your child's device runs smoothly and is protected against threats, it should be regularly updated while at home (Education Queensland firewalls prevent these updates from occurring).
Before you start: If your device is running Windows 10/11 in S Mode, you'll need to take it out of S Mode before you can install apps from the web. If you are unsure if your device is in S Mode go to Settings > System > About, then scroll down to 'Windows Specifications'
Get help with Windows 10 S Mode from Microsoft Support.
Microsoft Office
Students can download and install Microsoft Office 365 free of charge on up to 5 devices. Download at office.com (school email & password required, if you are unsure of these details see one of your teachers) and click Install Office.
Internet browser
Some websites display differently on different browsers. We recommend having two
- Microsoft Edge - fast and light, installed on Windows machines by default.
- Google Chrome - best compatibility with most websites. Download for free.
Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) apps
Adobe CC apps are used in some creative or design subjects and includes industry standard apps such as Photoshop, Lightroom and Premiere Pro.
A licence is required to use these apps, which is paid for and organised by the school for all students who study subjects that require them. Download from Adobe website.
If a student's licence is not active, they should speak to their subject teacher.
Autodesk apps

Download from Autodesk website. Users require a licence which is assigned by their subject teacher. If you require a license see your subject teacher
