Exceptional teaching and learning is our number one priority at Mabel Park State High School.  The school community continually strives for excellence in teaching by developing our three pillars of quality instruction:

  • The New Art and Science of Teaching pedagogical framework (NASOT) – Dr Robert Marzano's New Art and Science of Teaching pedagogical framework guides our overall instructional method and provides the focus for teachers' peer coaching conversations for individual teacher and student improvement.
  • 21st century skills embedded into the general capabilities of the National curriculum are a heavy focus for students at Mabel Park State High School as we strive to teach not only the cognitions of the national curriculum but the skills that make students better people.  We utilise Dr Michael Fullan's 6C's of education to do this; students learn content explicitly around Character, Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical thinking and Citizenship.
  • Rigorous Reading and Writing Program (RRAW) – focuses on explicit reading and writing instruction using text dependant questioning, Marzano's 6 Steps to Vocab instruction, Writing on Demand, Reading with a Pen (annotation) and the Whole School Paragraph Writing Tool.

MP State Classroom Common Agreements are an agreement committed to by all staff and students (guided by the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) framework) that ensures a positive culture and a safe and nurturing school environment for all students.
