Health and
Physical Education (HPE) uses movement as a powerful medium for learning,
through which students can acquire, practice and refine personal, behavioural,
social and cognitive skills. HPE provides students with the knowledge,
understanding and skills to strengthen their sense of self, build resilience
and to make decisions and take actions to promote their health, safety and
physical activity participation. They develop critical inquiry skills to
research and analyse factors that enhance performance and those factors that
influence their own and others health.
In 2026 all year 7-9 High Performance sport subjects will be
linked to the HPE curriculum. Mabel Park SHS students that wish to engage in
the High Performance sport subjects have the choice of Rugby League, Football,
Basketball,Netball, or AFL.
Extra-Curricular Sport
We also offer Volleyball as an extra-curricular sport. This sport is not timetabled as a high performance subject, with trainings taking place before and after school. Students who participate in the volleyball program will have opportunities throughout the year to compete with the school and up to a National level.
If you are interested in supporting our Volleyball program through sponsorship, please see our proposal here.
