Mabel Park State High School
offers a range of scholarships in the areas of Academic Excellence, Sporting Excellence, Performing Arts, Leadership and Community. These scholarships are offered to students who perform at exceptional levels within their field of speciality.
Scholarships available in 2022 include:
- Academic Scholarship
- iMPact Scholarship
- Maths Science Academy (MSA) Scholarship
- High Performance Sports Program Scholarship
- Performing Arts Academy Scholarship
- Leadership Scholarship
- Community Scholarship
The Application Package must be completed and returned to Mabel Park State High School's Enrolment Officer with all relevant documentation.
Please note Scholarships are offered for a period of 12 months ONLY. A panel will review scholarship recipients' data and progress to determine suitability to re-apply. To re-apply, a student would need to demonstrate their commitment to the program or meet the required standards.
With each scholarship comes student responsibilities (as per scholarship conditions & student contract). If a student fails to maintain their commitment to programs or the required standards of performance, the scholarship can be revoked. Recipients will be reviewed by the scholarship panel regularly. Scholarship recipients at risk of losing their scholarship status will have an opportunity to put forward a personal statement of support to this panel before any final decision to revoke is made. Recipients and parents will be notified of the decision.
Academic Scholarship



The Academic Excellence Program is offered across the curriculum at Mabel Park State High School. Students with a strong academic ability in their core subjects are identified and after successful application work with the relevant team to achieve their goals. Additional extra-curricular activities may be offered to advance students learning beyond the classroom. Students are expected to participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities such as competitions and excursions.
Conditions:
- Students should be achieving a minimum of a B standard in their English, History, Geography, Maths and Science classes and a pass required in all specialist subjects (HPE, Japanese and or any other electives).
- Minimum of a B in the corresponding effort and behaviour grades.
- Involvement in educational challenges such as Academic competitions or Mabel4Change.

- Junior Student Resource Scheme (school fees) for the year to the amount of $200.00.
- Senior Student Resource Scheme (school fees) for the year to the amount of $200.00.
- Extra subject fees are NOT included.
High Performance Sports
The High Performance Sports Program is offered as part of the HPE curriculum at Mabel Park State High School. Students will have the opportunity to pursue a course focusing in one of the following Academies of Sporting Excellence including Rugby League, Football, Basketball or Netball.

We are looking for students who are highly motivated and committed to their designated sport. Each student within their chosen Academy of Sporting Excellence will actively contribute to the school's positive culture. Each student will be expected to attend a Trial/Gala day for their identified sport.
Conditions:
- High expectations and adherence to student contract.
- High performance sports scholarship recipients must:
- Always wear correct full school uniform. The academy training uniforms should ONLY be worn at each academy lesson/training session.
- Participation in all school sporting and athletic events.
- Maintain a strong commitment to training, participating in each session unless medically unfit (Medical Certificate/Clearance to be provided).
- Elite scholarship recipients must demonstrate representation at a Queensland/MET or equivalent level.
Please note that students will be provided with ONE training kit as part of the Elite Scholarship. Any replacement items will need to be purchased at your own expense.

Performing and Visual Arts Academy Scholarship
The Arts Academy is offered as part of the curriculum at Mabel Park State High School. Talented students with a strong musical, dance or artistic ability are identified or self-nominated and after successful application are placed within the program. Applicants may be required to audition to become part of the program or submit a portfolio (if relevant). Audition dates will be published via our Facebook Page – Mabel Park State High School. Additional extra-curricular activities are offered to advance students' learning beyond the classroom.

The Performing/Visual Arts Academy Scholarship can be broken down into the following categories:
- Instrumental Music (Drumline, Strings and Band)
- Dance
- Multicultural
- Visual Art

Bagojei Goromgunn (Rising Star) Scholarship
Students applying for a leadership scholarship must demonstrate leadership qualities at their Primary School.
Conditions
- Year 7 students who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
- Model behaviour expected.
- Report cards/Academic achievement.
- Students must show leadership qualities and be involved with Indigenous Cultural activities within the school (for example Indigenous Dance).
Inclusions
- Junior Student Resource Scheme (school fees) for the year to the amount of $200.00.
- Extra subject fees are NOT included.

Community Scholarship
The community scholarship is for students who represent, respect and contribute to their school community, despite circumstances which may make it difficult for them at times. Such students do not allow their circumstances to stop them from engaging and representing the school community spirit.
Conditions:
- Student with Disability.
- 95% attendance.
- Majority high standards for effort and behaviour.
- Scholarship recipients will continue to represent and respect their school community at Mabel Park State High.
Inclusions:
- Junior Student Resource Scheme (school fees) for the year to the amount of $200.00.
- Senior Student Resource Scheme (school fees) for the year to the amount of $200.00.
- Extra subject fees are NOT included.
The iMPact Program Scholarship
The iMPact Project is offered as part of the Junior Secondary curriculum at Mabel Park State High School. Students will be challenged through real-world problem solving and work to develop Michael Fullen's 6 C's – Character, Citizenship, Collaboration, Communication, Creativity and Critical Thinking. The future working environment is at an all-time high in terms of unpredictability.
Deakin University (2018) reports that the new norm for graduates of the future is the ability to make the world their own. Additional extra-curricular activities are offered to advance students' learning beyond the classroom.
Students are expected to participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities such as excursions, competitions and activities as part of their participation in the iMPact Project.
Conditions:
- Students with a strong desire to collaborate, think outside the box and demonstrate growth mindset are encouraged to apply.
- Report cards that demonstrates high levels of achievement, effort & behaviour.
- Responses to set questions (See Appendix for iMPact specific application).
Inclusions:
- $300 payment for Education Perfect subscription.
- Extra subject fees are NOT included.
- This scholarship does not limit students from applying for other Mabel Park State High School scholarship programs.
Maths Science Academy Scholarship
The MSA Program is offered as part of the curriculum at Mabel Park State High School. Students with a strong academic ability in Maths and/or Science are identified and after successful application work with the relevant team to achieve their goals. The students in the Maths Science Academy Program are provided with curriculum that offers a challenging curriculum to enhance the study of Maths, Science, Engineering and Technology.
The increased pace and the incorporation of design projects linking to real-life applications is designed to keep students motivated. Additional extra-curricular activities are offered to advance students learning beyond the classroom.
Conditions:
- Students should be achieving a minimum of a an A or B standard in their Maths and Science classes.
- Students are expected to participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities such as competitions and excursions.
Inclusions:
