School Prospectus – Whole school overview
Mabel Park State High School is located in Logan City between
Brisbane and the Gold Coast. We are a unique school, with a diverse student
population which allows us to personalise the education of our students in years
7 to 12.
Our school is first and foremost a place of learning. All
activities at Mabel Park SHS are undertaken with this primary value in mind. As
a result our school is focused on: individual achievement, student welfare,
responsible behaviour, education of the whole person, leadership, providing
opportunities and choices, and celebrating success.
In the Junior Secondary School we cater to individual student
needs to enable all students access to the curriculum. In doing so,
we strive for improvement in literacy and numeracy through the
additional allocation of time in English and Mathematics classes and
incorporating the widely popular and effective Reading to Learn program.
One hundred per cent of our students have consistently
achieved the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), one or
more Vocational Training and Education qualifications and 100% of eligible
students are offered their QTAC preference in the Senior Secondary
School. This has provided positive and productive pathways for
students into traineeships, apprenticeships, the workforce, TAFE and
University.
Our Senior Secondary School remains committed to initiating original and innovative projects that demonstrate solutions to
youth unemployment. Across the school, we further develop the leadership
capabilities of our students through the Future Logan Leaders program in
conjunction with our local industry, community and higher education partners.
