At Mabel Park State High School, we have developed a strong, high-performance Girls Rugby League program that has become one of the leading schoolgirl rugby league pathways in the region, across the state and at a national level. We provide a high-performance program for young female athletes with a genuine pathway through school and post school. With a dedicated and passionate team of coaches and support staff, we provide opportunities for our student athletes to develop their skills through a range of multilayered training sessions, tactical and game strategy workshops and tailored strength and conditioning programs.
Our teams compete in the elite competition pathways programs for schoolgirl rugby league, competing in the National NRL Schoolgirls Cup and the KINETIC Gold Coast Titans competitions which are the premier competitions for female rugby league.
Our coaching staff is filled with regional representative coaching positions across all age groups. With a number of our coaching staff actively involved in NRL pathways systems, we are able to provide our students with direct access to elite-level training methods and approaches.
In 2023, our schoolgirls were crowned inaugural NRL National Schoolgirls Cup champions defeating The Hills Sports High 26-8 at Allianz Stadium and claiming the Queensland Schoolgirls Cup along the way, defeating Kirwan State High School 38-0 at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.

Selection Criteria
- Attend trial days
- High standard of attendance, behaviour, effort and achievement evident in 2 most recent report cards
Conditions
High expectations and adherence to student contract including:
- B standard or higher in behaviour and effort, 95% or above school attendance
- Always wear correct full school uniform.
- Always wear correct training uniform for any gym and/or field session.
- Being available to play in all MPSHS games including trials if and when selected.
- Maintain playing form to consistently warrant selection within the “A" Team.
- Maintain a strong commitment to training which includes participating in every activity
Please note that the Rugby League kit (training shirt, shorts and socks) are required the commencement of training in 2026. All items are available for purchase from Flexischools (online purchasing) or directly from our Uniform Shop.
Application Process
Current students:
To re-apply, a student would need to demonstrate their commitment to the program and/or meet the required standards. This would be based on your current attendance, effort, and behaviour, as well as performance at a re-trial.
