At Mabel Park State High school, in term 3, students undergo their pathways and SETP interview sessions. On this day, classes are cancelled and students remain at home unless they are attending their session with their parents.
This conversation focusses on the student's strengths, preferred subject choices, senior schooling and career paths. This pathway conversation aims to strategically align them with their strengths and interests in order to pave the way for their academic success.
There will also be a finance, attendance and wellbeing check point for parent and caregivers to check their fees, update unexplained attendance and connect their child with support services.
Booking information will be sent out via email to book on SOBS.
Years 7, 8 and 9
Years 7, 8 and 9 students will complete their subject selection for the following year during their interview. They will choose their two electives and high performance class based on their interests and strengths. Year 9s and their parents will need to select which participation model they will enter for the Bring Your Own Device program.
Year 10 SETP (Senior Education and Training Plan)
State schools ensure that students develop a SET plan in partnership with their parents by the end of Year 10. The SET plan is a key component of a school's career education program. It maps out a plan of action to ensure students remain on track for success in senior secondary, post-school education and work.
During the SET planning process, students identify their intended learning option to be achieved through the compulsory participation phase. Students are supported to acquire the knowledge and skills to develop their SET plan and to review and revise it, where necessary, throughout years 11 and 12.
During the compulsory participation phase, our school ensures that learning opportunities are provided in accordance with the SET plan. The SET plan is reviewed and updated as necessary and transferred when required.
Year 10s and their parents will need to select which participation model they will enter for the Bring Your Own Device program.
Year 10 SETP interviews will be conducted with a member of the leadership team.
Year 11 and 12
To support year 11 and 12 students with their senior schooling phase, parents are able to book traditional style interviews with their individual subject teachers to support their learning and academic success.
